So as i sit here on my ibook, i realize that i am loving it more and
more for casual web-browsing and the no minded day to day work that is
the internet. but there are a few things that are tedious on this mac
like the lack of a right mouse button. guess i need to wait until the
new i386 imac is out.
Anyway a few tasks that i had to take care of were blogging and RSS
feeds. Each of which after about 3 hours of playing with widgets and
goofing around with software did i come up with the following.
RSS Feed
NetNewsWire Lite
- this application properly aggregates all RSS feeds in a nice OSX aqua
format and allows the fast download when i pick up a wifi link for 2
mins in my car. its also free. There is a pay version but i dont want
to pay for mac software. that makes me sick. the link for the free
software is at the end of the page. This program gets the Kelly OSX
approval.
Blogger API
Since DasBlog
is MoveableType compliant i started my search for MT widgets. All of
them suck XML isn't that powerful yet. I found an application called ecto This application appears to be as powerful as my windows counterpart BlogJet. In
fact i would go so far as to say this application kicks the pants off
of BlogJet; if it wasn't for the goofy osx user interface here and
there I would be in love. In fact i did go to the work of trying to
find a crack for it for OSX (couldn't find one) but I just contacted
them and if its useable on i386 and PPC then i will gladly shell out
the $20 for this product.
Other notable software while i am at it
Cocktail
- Mac OS Cleaner (equivalent of TweekUI) This application has proved
most useful for running of cron jobs and such that keep BSD subsystem
happy.
Macjanitor - free version of Cocktail for the clean up jobs
AirTraffic Widget - WiFi Display Program
google toolbar for firefox - duhNow i sit and wait for the new iBook intel version!
