The first family photo since my brothers graduation

Marine Polls SushiLand, if you dont know it then learn it. Even if you dont like the word Sushi (like my dad or me) you dont have to eat anything that you think is fish here. I personally can eat 100 of the house roles. The novel part is that the food will ‘drive’ by you on a conveyer belt (seen in the photo) so you can pick what you want to eat as it slides thru. The customer service is thru the roof. If your looking for somewhere new eat here. Locations in Bellevue and Seattle.

Today i worked on the stereo install for my car. Took all day just to plan my install. This will  be the first time that i dont install a stereo in my car. I will be using Magnolia Hi-Fi, i have been extremely happy with the service that i have had from them since the purchase of my AV Switcher.

got my car back from the body shop, had them touch up some paint issues i had from the dealer. I also have the headlights and fog lights that were leaking coming in from the dealer today, also got a daytime running lights installed.Changed the oil to synthetic to get rid of the break in chunks. got a date for tinting and received a unit in the mail today that will convert the factory stereo steering wheel controls to IR commands that will control any stereo button on a new stereo, programmable. This unit is super cool and i wanna rep for it if you happen to have after market with unused buttons. This company has a lot of way cool products.

Happy birthday to Nic yesterday and and Quinn today. Other then that, might go to E-burg this weekend jsut for the drive.

ok before you give me shit that i saw a chick flick, i did go with a girl, so even though i was one of two guys in the 20 something people in the movie hut, it wasn't like i was some dude watching a chick flick.  But fact remains that $imdb(The Wedding Date) bleeds chick flick, it was a good movie for the scenery, wardrobe and color. But it was like a puzzle with a few missing pieces. There were a few flaws that were noticeable in the story line and the cinamatography. However for a fun romantic comedy it was good, i was bored and i didn't get pissed i spent $9. I think the only other guy in the theator was getting some heavy action if you know what i mean either that or someone was crying. we had no idea.

weekend over, that sucks. Today at work however is gonna be sticky-icky.

i might add that this is week two now of the no shave till days campaign, status = no longer ichy

    Week21

whats all that crap in the background?

oh yea so a car, kelly whats the scoop?–  i spent all day today working out some things that needed repaired like water in the fog lights and a shitty painted fender. I have started some easy mods to the car, like hacking the crappy antenna as well as editing the way the fog lights work. I also went to magnolia Hi-Fi for estimates on all my new stereo installation. but to keep you all in suspense a little longer i will post another day on that. I will however set up a “my car” photo album so you can see whats up.

this is only Sunday and what a long weekend so far. 1 day left! This is the first time we have had this 3 day weekend at corbis, this is a new holiday for us.

i didnt post anything yesterday, that was a first. i woke up Thursday at 3pm and went to bed Friday at 9pm. it was a long day, a day filled with a new car. I wanted the new focus and thinking about it for a while. and decided to get it sooner then later. I will post further on it later, when i have time. Oh yea i got a 2005 Focus ST

this weekend was packed so far, Fernando came into town and i didnt know he was gonna. went to his house friday night and basically crashed, went to bed on the floor. woke up, hooked up with C-Man and then went to yarrow bay, then a batting cage – that was fun its been a long time since batting. then we dropped off conor and went out with Kristen to The Temple Pool House in Seattle (my fav bar by far) shot some pool and listened to crappy D/B techno. I burnt out a mp3 cd at work and bumped tunes with my stereo installed Sub. Came home bought some car stereo parts i will need for the new car. Posted this blog, and going to sleep to have another long ass 2 days of weekend left – boo yea!

so like the people who say “some day i am gonna write a book”, some day i want to make a movie. I always get funny stuff that i write down that happens in life. As you might know i am sort of  magnet for trouble and funny stuff so i write a lot down. (and now in blog format arnt you lucky)

so i know someone who received a rose, by unfortunate circumstances the rose was left out of water to dry up.  now when i first saw this i thought haha what a great idea.

apply this to a movie script. guy gets girl rose, from plot development/side story guy and girl are at odds. Now how do you make that a good on screen joke? well you have girl. who might be a protagonist who has a vase of roses or something from the guy, she dumps out the water and hands it back. Or just takes it dumps out water and leaves the roses somewhere where guy sees them. with the haha i killed your roses. or you can antagonist the character just as easy, use the single rose idea for more sincerity then have it dry up, in the same malicious manner. (i should point out that i am not ensuing that the real life incident was any near either but a  movie plot in kellys head)

ok then…kelly,  you actually think about shit like that?, yea must be the night shift i dont get out much any more. But if you steal this idea you owe me royalties or at least a spot in the credit roll

Since I run IIS,SQL,Exchange,AD-DC/DNS  all on the same server when ever i start up or shutdown the box i get a lot of errors in the event log. I like to keep a event log with only information bubbles, never any warnings or critical. Since Microsoft never recommends to keep all this stuff on the same box for reasons you should know. (That i dont care about because i am not going to run 3 servers in my house.) There isnt a whole lot of help out there to fix some of the issues. Or more over, i dont want to set 100 dependencies for services.

Jon gave me the idea to just script it. He still gets credit even though i found this later. So thats what i did – i set SQL,IIS,Exchange all to manual and set up the following GPO startup/shutdown scripts to run. Thus solving the problem and keeping my server running very happy.

    @echo off
    net stop w3svc
    net stop mssqlserver
    net stop resvc
    net stop msexchangemgmt
    net stop msexchangemta
    net stop msexchangeis
    net stop msexchangesa

This is the shutdown script with the startup script the inverse of this, do note that the order is important to dependency. I run a startup as opposed to keeping automatic and just stopping on shutdown to just keep it all nice and clean, in my head and on the event log.

went to beths for lunch today. one of the “you had to be there to see it” moments but i will try and explain. first beths is like a PG-13 diner its located on 99 so you can imagine the place. if you cant just think getto city and put a 24 hour joint.

enjay and i are sitting there to overhear someone call the diner. the dude on our end says “yes, yes, we are only closed on Christmas and thanksgiving, yes” after hanging up he said – what a idiot i said only closed on Christmas and thanksgiving you would think they understand 24 hours.

so we sit there for a little while longer and right when we leave a dude who is over-dressed for any outing at 4 am let alone a place like beths. walks in the door with his prize gal pal. He is smoking a cig. and says to the dude standing there, hey can i smoke in here (standin in the restaurant with a lit cig. already) the waiter says to him “there is 9sq feet you cant smoke in – in this joint, and your not in it.) rico then asks “where is that 9 sq feet” – waiter pauses, replies well not that it matters but its way back there.

At this moment enjay and i were busting up because not only was this chump 99% chance the same chump that called into the place to see if it was open, but he is really a tool on top of that. as enjay said he prolly told his gal “see, and you said i never take you places” – i figure right after brunch he dropped her off to head back to his family on the eastside. man was it funny.

regardless of what crap the Roman's came up with –  i say that Hallmark created this day. I will sucker into what i notice that 50% of all blogs post on this 48 hour period. I am sitting home alone on a computer blogging. Thanks Hallmark for pointing that out.

However i will put some “love in the air” and bring up a new project that i am working on. being a honest to goodness wedding dj! no im not shittin you. Crazy Enjay (seen below) is going to get hitched. Since he knows quality DJ work when he sees it, and has the same love for Ace of Base that i do. he keeps talking about “big booty mega cd collection” but i dont have that yet. Its going to be a bumpin time.

Also i thought of this day because the most popular birth months are 8–9 months away. that means that there is gonna be a lot of sheet washing in the next 24 hours. just remember they grow up to look like this

if you have been playing halflife 2 and love it as much as you should and you have never heard of garrys mod then stop reading this download it and install it. Trust me it will make you giggle with delight. The mod will allow you to spawn almost ANY sprite and use it in a huge empty world. its bad ass. Seriously if you want to turn HalfLife into GTA with hours of replay get this mod. The .7 just came out and the new stuff is so cool.

ok, lets start off this one with the good points. Good – $imdb(catwoman) has a very good glossy comic book feel to it. The color and camera look cool. and Halle Berry really looked good in the film and took on a very different look from Bond and X2.

thats where the good stuff ends. This movie sucked, the CGI was horrible the story was pathetic and there were more obvious continuity mistakes in this movie then i have seen in a while. then there are things like. All of the sudden halle is out side on a ledge chasing a cat, then some cop comes in busts down the door to save her then ends up at the office she works at to ask her on a date. This is like spiderman redone by an amateur. I cant say enough bad about this film the fight scenes look way too CGI and the whole feel of the movie is off. this movie gets a one star from me. I didnt shut it off but i would never watch it again.

I have been working a lot with SQL lately with the SharePoint products. I have never really had much interest in the product. Knowing what its function was. Now that I am working more dynamic web applications i am getting into the product like crazy. I have installed SQL on my home server and have started testing to get lindenloop.com on a SQL back-end and not the AccessDB its on now. I am also testing my photo album software on the same structure. This will help everything be nice and fast for years to come. Also i got my new site up that will one day be the best site i own. Http://stankybeer.com will be live in the next 4–5 months with full content, look fwd to that. After running Microsoft's Base Line tool for SQL my site is looking sweet and secure. Not much to the setup/security.

i think i was one of three single people at this movie. i guess its a good excuse to say “yea i saw it with the girl” down at the bar the night after. then no one gives you shit i guess. However, if you saw a preview for $imdb(hitch) and you thought it looked fun, then it will rise to your expectations. This movie was good, for all the movies that have come out this year this is the first good one i actually liked. It sort of reminds me of $imdb(how to loose a guy in 10 days) looking back. I dont want to ruin the plot for anyone seeing that it came out (yesterday) but go find the movie trailer for it and check it out if you like it then i recommend the movie. I will sum this up with one quick story. While watching the movie, Kevin James who plays a great character is in a ‘romantic comedy moment’ with his love interest, he walks away from her – at this moment some dude in the crowd yelled “no no go back” if a romantic comedy can get audience participation in the theatre, i say its got something.

so i have a weekend and nothing to do. Might as well watch some movies. Thats exactly what $imdb(paparazzi) is. A good movie to watch just because. Nothing is crazy cool about this film. Just a new idea photographers are the bad guy and the real ‘bad guy’ wins. Its worth the watch if you find yourself at home on friday with a stack of netflix. its a 2.5 out of 5 movie. Well done looks good, good color/camera/acting they obviously had some hook-ups with a few decent cameos that i thought were well placed. Other then that you cant say much about this movie, it just was.

However the last four years of party/vacation. are located at my good friend mikes server in b-ham. He is gonna love the extra traffic! if you try looking at the pictures and its a “server not found” try back later. He has DSL with 7 people in the same house.

so i have been reading up on some new news topics and saw the following that were worth commenting about.

Pfizer and microsoft isnt it great when fortune 500’s team up? not sure who is advertising who here but its sort of a humorous idea. Drug company uses the power of a computer company to stop the sale of counterfeit drugs. I dont know about you but this is sort of just funny. So will microsoft get free viagra? or will viagra get some open windows? this is one of those news articles you see stapled to a wall in a conspiracy theorists home.

was it a good news day or what? – berkeley cant keep track of dead people or alive ones now this is a dual part fun one. on one side you have the dead body’s that were being sold on the black market… most likely for home horror films or fake gang shootings. ok i can deal with that. so what guy was with the cali-education unit was like hot-dam lets put this on the 16 yr olds. I guess because people also sell them on the black market? the best quote is when they are talking about how they were told to take the RFID readers off of the bathroom. Hell by the time these kids are 28 they are prolly gonna have to RFID more then just school so other then the obvious, i RFID into work every day.

and on the nerd front no sirius-pod this is good. I was worried about this, with the popularity of the IPod this could be a blow to XM. I want XM to win the digital radio war not sirius. This article talks about how investors were pissed off about how Jobs wont induce a fast market for the stock. But i think its smart, not only cuz i want XM to be the king. IF jobs takes satellite radio and sticks it on the ipod. why would i use itunes, in fact why would i need a ipod. why not just get a portable satellite radio unit? DUH people. Jobs mentioned something about “more content” i assume he means that you can get data from the stream that you can save on the ipod, like …”i like this song, i want the whole album” click save pay. There is the content Jobs wants and the exposure of satellite radio. Come on XM get your shit in a line to keep up on them.

but if you thought i was a nerd take a look at this mess seriously who “looks at quarters all day”

also i picked this from a co-workers blog take a look at the last link on the apprentice main window. “Click here to be martha stewarts apprentice” this just invites a bucket of laughs. I mean seriously, what do qualifications include? –  “ability to stay within 500 feet of marthas house, or learn to remove a ankle cuff”

so after pounding a few ibuprofin, still slacking off for getting some vicodin i have been working on SharePointPortal2003 all night. Its a nice product but so far its just messy. dealing with a project to create a site after it was dumped on me more or less, to get done. Ahhh work.

Enjay ran thru the office today and we drove recklessly around the night streets of Seattle for a while. Found that jackin the crack was closed at 2am. So then we went to Beth’s Cafe i have read about this place in things like “what to do in Seattle” or seen it on almost live. never gone. damn they are tasty eggs. nothing like a 10 egg omelet in the morning for 9 bucks. That is also the first smoking food-joint i have been in for a long ass time. i like the place – shit on the walls, loud music from the cook. and all you can eat hash browns. who wants more? and all at 3am!

OK $imdb(cellular) was a movie that i wanted to see because it looked crazy. This is a generation Y product for sure. Second this was prolly the worst movie i have seen with some caveats. I thought i would start off with a quick what i did like, at one point in the movie i actually wondered how they would end it. I must say that it was a action/thriller for one second. but only one second. plot spoil if you read on. – read last paragraph for summary

The acting sucks Kim Basinger who is one of the lead actors, i am just mostly in shock about. I dont know who decided to throw her in a room and told her off screen  “look around the set for something to help you” it really looks like she is taking acting cues. Then bad ass comes in and smashes the phone. She some how had some experience with phone repair to get it to work. Now i know this is a movie but this was lame. Good thing they broke a rotary phone so she could still dial. (Rotary phone in LA?) sorry i can deal with a lot but not this dribbal.

Lets move to the guy who answered the cell phone. this was lame, he got to drive a porche which was advertised way too much in the movie. If he would have also been drinking coke it would have been better. His girlfriend that really wasn't a good actor. But hey at least they didn't use the alternate ending found on the dvd then i would have kicked this movie out the door.

The whole cast sucked it seems like the “cell phone store seen” gets the most actors in the credit roll. Speaking of … movies with the worst credit role EVER. This movie. you will laugh when you see it.

This movie gives me a hint of $imdb(phone booth) it just plays the same. but i did like phone booths story better. This movie gets a “it sucked” out of me but if you need a mindless rental its worth watching once. Like i said at 1 second i was like “whats gonna happen” – oh and if you can answer the question ‘whats with the guy who owns the porche’

OUCH! After four hours in a dental chair i am in some serious pain. A cap, root canal and several filled teeth. This sucks. I did get a prescription for some vicodin that might be handy. I dont know if skipping the dentist for a lot of years was worth the cost or the pain. but who is to say that i wouldn't have had this done over the years. So i guess it was sort of worth it. now that all my chompers work. time to eat some candy. One good thing about hallmark day 14th is that they make good candy. Like conversation hearts that now say “IM me” …what about “blog this”

So final day time for the – final countdown.

On my third day i spent about 8 hours listening to all the Sirius channels. Then i went to XM to refresh my self on what i was missing the last three days. Here are some final points

    • Notice that Sirius only seems to play “radio hits” or popular songs
    • Sirius did start to be noticeable in the lack of wide choice of channels
    • XM “raw” which i never really listened to was a good hip-hop channel

    In conclusion …

So after a hard three day battle. I will chose to stay with XM. Sirius has a lot of great channels they have the best Techno and some sweet compilation channels of different music. They are also great to sing along to. I know most of the music on there. They have free streaming (included with price) and they are not owned by clearcom. The demo would not let me test out the talk/sports/news channels only music. so i cant comment on them. However my one beef with them is all the advert’s for the NFL. Who on earth listens to football – you watch football not listen. They do have the NBA which is cool. I am not a fan of Howard and i should note that he isn't really on Sirius until 2006. so that is a non issue for me

XM they have better hardware (at least i like it better) they have what seems to be “deeper” content. The channels are all very oriented to the type of music they advertise. They also have what i think is more music – not channels but more variety since they dont mix a lot of music on channels like Sirius. I can listen to XM for hours and not get tired of it. I am unsure that after a month i would say the same of Sirius. They do lack some techno diversity. However the non music content i believe kicks sirius’s ass they dont have lame things like “maxium radio”. Xm also has city by city traffic unlike xm that shares Seattle with sandiago. and where is LA? i mean SD gets traffic but not LA. Since i do drive to cali this is a sweet feature to just have it all in one box. Dont forget the MLB

Overall i think since i like XM after three years and they add new content every year. that i will only like it for three more. Sirius was tasty for three days but i fear that i would soon run out of the fun content they offer. choice XM.

Addition: Post writing this review XM has added free streaming (free = part of the upgraded price that matches Sirius)

I had a few thoughts on tips for people wanting to throw a CEO and office Hoe party.

    • Dress Up as a CEO or a “Office Hoe” – key word no jeans
    • Have nametags with funny names for the office
    • play office space on the break room tv
    • have a ‘supply room’
    • if you happen to have access to a copy machine put that in the main party room
    • water cooler of beer /mixed drink
    • provide notepads for notes
    • have tps reports
    • have HR give out sexual harassment letters
    • use all desk chairs as seating
    • have the bar be in a fake cube
    • all drinks served form coffee mugs
    • put the party notice on a tps report or a “memo”
    • put post it notes with a pen somewhere and stick some up early with “this party sucks” or something it will be fun if it catches on – when clean up comes you can laugh the next day
    • insist on recycling

ok so i have listened to sirius non stop for the last day. I gotta say that i really like it. Few things i notice

    • Sirius talks a lot about shit i dont care about
    • they try and be funny

i listened to the classical channels that are the same as XM no change there. (how can there be) i am not sure if its just the change in format or they actually are better i do like the music that i am hearing, it seems to be catchier and i know it all.

But there is the thing. i havent heard anything new on the channels that i would listen to. I need to go off channel to hear new things. I am hoping that day 3 will prove fruitful now that i heard a lot of the channels, i want to see how the content is – like XM will they start to over play songs? the “old skool” hip-hop channel plays a lot of beastie boys.

right know i am undecided if its just “new radio” that i like or if its better. i hope day three will tell.

this movie gets a wow. $imdb(big fish) directed by the ‘artist’ $imdb(tim burton) has churned out some great story’s for the mind on film in his life, this one is no exception. I am not going to go as far to say this is 5 star or even a great movie. However this movie was very good. I was super impressed with it. if you like tims work you prolly have seen it and own it. If you like focus films or criterion collection I recommend this one. Its eye candy that you will like.

in the drama/comedy line $imdb(eternal sunshine) and $imdb(garden state) each 2004 hold my record for the category. But this movie comes in the top 7 for drama/comedy.

ok so a week ago i posted that i started up a my space account from Connors suggestion – i was dorking around and just making a joke account. its crazy people just email me all day and add me as friends. Its sort of unmanageable.

another day another dollar. not much to report. I have my “big” dentist appt. tmro where i will be having a 5 hour operation to cap and root a few teeth. Goody. What a good way to spend my tax return!.

I have been looking at Sirius(S) offerings verses Xm(X). Since i pay for XM streaming (free trial) and i also own several XM radios for going on 3 years now. But recently i have been looking at sirius, using the free trial. I have three days and will post my findings each day.

Initial reaction to (S) web site is much better then (X) its much cleaner and you can find things faster. (X) has better channel pages and better layout for the content of the shows. But i see it as messy and hard to navigate sometimes. The streaming for (S) is MUCH better. XM needs to fix re do and clean up the whole streaming service. it pales in comparison. (S) is nothing great at all but when you compare the two favour is in (S).

One strength of the Sirius streaming is that it’s clean and wont pop/click or drop out. XM seems to have a issue with bandwidth on there end that prevents a clean stream. Its enough to make you want to quit. Sirius is also free streaming with subscription and XM is $4 a month extra. Now i have no issue with the $4 a month i like that they make people who want the service pay for it, not everyone. However if i am paying for it make it work correctly!!! I have sent numerous complaints to XM with no response on this issue.

The interface of each stream is the same just a rehash of a API for windows media. Sirius puts in some extra code for “buy this cd” and “last 5 songs you heard” so again they win the R/D award for making a product that a user will be happy with. They also offer a “mini” player for paying users. XM none of this r/d in fact its getto flash that crashes a lot.

One more issue that i want to talk about before i leave the stream reviews. is the fact that XM will “disconnect” you if you have been in-active for a long period of time. THIS IS HORRIBLE. i cant tell you how much it will piss you off. The point of streaming audio is to listen to it at work etc. i am not going to change channels every 2 hours. why kick me off?!?! its horrible and they need to stop this “protection” its horrible and makes the service really suck. If you dont believe me then just try it out, get into a station for two hours then it will kick you out. By the time you figure out how to log back into the service and choose your channel. Wait for the stream to buffer. you lost 5 mins easy of time you could have been listenin’ to sirius streaming.

    The big Question the Channels

So essentially it comes down to the content. Its really what your paying for. To set this up i will outline what i listen to on XM. I listen to Channel 9 (90’s music) 20 (Top 20 POP hits) 47 (Today’s Alternative Rock) 53(Punk) 67 (Urban Top40) 82(Techno) 113 (Classical Pops) This is my “basic” music interest. I listen to all the channels mostly equally. I like the 67,113,82,47 the most. Xm streaming has a channel for classic alternative not currently offered on the normal service called Lucy. Its lame they do this and wish they offered it on the full service.

    (S) is very similar to XM. if they didn't station ID you wouldn't notice which service you were listening to. its the same format same idea same music more or less. However (S) dj’s seem lame, they are goofy and stupid its like LA radio where they are trying to be goofy.

So with that laid down, i went to (S) and its rather easy to find channels that are similar. The first and foremost that (S) pops ahead of XM on is the techno/electronic music. The channels for techno are VERY good  channel 61/63/62 are great and blow the pants off of XM 81/82. Techno music favor is the hand of (S)

Next i listened to the 90’s/Pop chart topers. I think again (S) takes the lead in small bits. but only small. There is no “decades” that xm offers. I like that a lot. You can listen to 60’s music or 90’s music with a channel change. (S) offers 90’s and today channel. Its a huge mix of top 40 and 90’s top 40. This isn't what i want to listen to. So XM pulls ahead in the over all review. However (S) strengths are it seems to not play the same corporate crap that XM forces on you. Also the channel 1on (S) has morning talk shows and its really a 100% music channel. Why not just go to FM for this content? (S) has more channels that match FM radio stations in this area for SURE (which some people might like). XM kids us with crap like MTV channel, but more specialised content channels.

I briefly listened to some of the Hip Hop channels. not in depth. I think that (S) offers a better section of hiphop however i think i like XM better. being a white boy i think XM is sent to a white kid watching mtv more. (S) appears to have a much better stronger and more “full spectrum” of hip-hop/rb/urban. Thats is just personal opinion. There is a lot more “uncensored” hiphop on (S) and honestly i could hear less eminem. There is even a eminem channel. Sorry this is tooooo much eminem/50cent

    Conclusion Day 1

    • Overall thought of the company = (S) (they arnt owned by clearcom)
    • WebSite Ease of use = (S)
    • Techno music = (S) (so much better content and choice)
    • HipHop old skool = (X) (for a white kid from Seattle)
    • Urban40 = (X) (much better live ‘metro-mix’s)
    • HipHop/Urban40 choices = (S) (xm is trying to make efforts in this market i noticed)
    • 90’s =(X) (decades choices is what its about, and no morning shows)

went and watched this while changing our minds about a obvious chick flick $imdb(wedding date). I wanted to see this one from preview. $imdb(in good company) is about a dude who is old and how his work might be taken over by (me) some day.

Where to rate this movie… On one hand it was original, i haven't seen a movie like this, and it had some funny stuff. It was a nice happy movie. On the other the script was just a script, and personally i hated the sound track. I actually got frustrated every time i heard it come into dominance in the movie. Think garden state. Thats what i keep thinking when i watched it. Like, the shins are awesome. In $imdb(garden state). Why did they use them here? this was enough of a distraction for me that i kept getting annoyed with the flow of the movie. You have acting acting …character development -BAM garden state sound track pause– so i give this a two star. I didn't walk out thinking it was great or a good use of 8 bucks. Had i down loaded it or netflixed it i might have enjoyed it more.

I have found something interesting about http://spaces.msn.com/. Its Microsoft’s blog site. It seems that if you post information on there, and post links to things that the links get crawled rather fast. So when i posted a blog post with links to this site. It got crawled a day later. Then if you search http://search.msn.com/ for things i have posted about like “garden state soundtrack” it will have my site up in the top 50. This appears to be a fast and easy way to up your search site rankings. It is also evident with yahoo.com where searching similar terms my site is in the top 50. It seems that blogs are what search engines are getting stuck on to aggregate links, this is good and bad

had a party at b-ham last night, the theme was great – the party was lighter then normal but it was a lot of fun. Micah mixed me some drinks and surprise to most of the bham crowd i was drinking. Mostly dizzy, its a rare sighting to see me drink i know.

The pictures are on line here (photos.kellykeeton.com)

we are going to watch $imdb(the wedding date) – as a date with mara and micah and jen and mike. I will report later on how sappy/crappy it is.

On the drive up here i went north via Whidby island, it was a nice drive. Much better then the normal I5 mess. I will prolly go home today so that i can sleep up for superbowl before work.

so the man has me working nights longer then i anticipated, turns out that however things might seem to be working in a business sometimes they arnt. They were supposed to hire a guy to replace me (weird to say that) but they haven't yet. so here i sit for a while longer. OH, i have nothing but sad to feel at the moment.

Which brings me to another point (has anyone noticed the lack of 100% nerd lately in my blogin) the other point really is that people are now starting to graduate. Asking about jobs and such and if i can hook them up at Corbis. Here is the answer, i can do what i can, but can not promise more. If you want to know what you can do at Corbis go here if you see something your capable of working on, then email me i will take your resume and hand it in, thus you by pass monster.com. If you know me good and i know you then you can just talk to me about things.

just watched it. If you were scared during $imdb(the ring) or thought it was a good film. $imdb(the grudge) is just as good. Seems to be some spin on this take a Japan thriller and dub it English. Anyway i’m watching so keep it up. This is just as insane as the ring but has our good American Sarah Michele in it. she is looking old. anyway if you want to scare someone or just want a good flick that makes you go HAHA-wow. then go for it. If you didn't like the ring for any reason you prolly wont like this. me = sweet.

so i went to the dentist today, first time since before 2000. I actually dont remember the last time. When i got in the dr drew a picture of my mouth then put a line down the middle. He said i have good news and bad news. This side only has some cavities. Then i said well thats some good news. Whats the bad? Then he preceded to tell me that he would not lecture me for not paying as much attn to my teeth as i should. Simply he said, “Your paying for my next vacation” thought hrm, he better go somewhere fun on me. so a few root canals and caps and who knows what else i will have some 2 thousand dollar (individual) teeth. I wonder what i can get on ebay for that.

here is the doctor info if your looking, he is great real nice and i recommend. I will be paying off a small car with him so say i sent you and i get $50 towards my tooth payment. on a side note i was told i have good gums. I asked if that would help me with the ladies, they said no but they would put the word out, they also declined my offer to have my picture blown up life size with my smile. side note2 they have free juice while you wait.

saw this burp in the news today  thought this was funny. I have had this unit for a few years, got it cheap and thought it might be a good tool for something some day. What it is used for (the non link clickers) is a Key Logger, or a device that records every key you press on the keyboard. Sounds scary? well thats is why it made the news, the interesting part is that just now this device is under the eye of the public, and some 16 yr old kid gets to take the fall. I personally have never used mine, i just wanted to see what it can do. as advertised will log any key you press. The fun part is that its presence is 100% unknown. What can you do about it …not much. Unless you check your keyboard every time you type, your screwed. Even then. If a hacker wanted to be serious they would just install it …IN the keyboard. Fun idea huh. So when it comes to all the security that you place on a computer, why not just hack the easy part. just think about it a bit to get scared. at library’s you plop this on the computer then sit back and watch for who and what they visit. In school computer labs you plop it on the computer. Hrmmm, ethical device? Prolly not. Interesting yes. Scary that people can do this to you. Yes. But then if you have a CRT monitor ever hear that you can actually see them through  walls? Or what about using a RF device on the keyboard/monitor to re-transmit the data in the wire? James bond and the Russian Mafia in your classroom.

As i came to work today i was crusin my usual 100 down from snoqualmie to issaquah and beep beep my radar detector went off. Saved me a cool 200 bucks. I wanted to blog a quick blurb about radar detectors. Once i was against them, as many of you might know. I thought to speed and try and snake out of it was not cool. Well, since i tried other methods to slow down like buying a focus, putting a red dot on the windshield and just having quinn yell at me. None of them worked. Since i also drive on the freeway every night with only 5–7 truckers its very hard to stay under 70 (for me). So here comes the detector. Now i have safely avoided 3–4 sure tickets with this device. With my ever sky-rocketing insurance of $600 (a month) i need all the help i can get. So i bought the best. At 300 from ebay you figure OUCH what a cost. But think that 100mph ticket was 200 bucks easy, and thats if i only get speeding out of it. Since i could get a reckless if WSP wanted to be mean. now a 400 ticket and Insurance 800 a month if at all. So 300 just repaid its self.

Now i know what everyone thinks …and tells me eventually. “Why not just slow down” i tried several times and i always seem to bounce back to the 80–90 range on open road. So for now we just trust old speedy-detection. I’m not speeding like the bad out of hell high schooler. I just like to drive, and the car is very stable at 100 and so i feel confident at 100. I dont speed in the city, and i dont speed in high volume traffic. (kelly justifying his speed ;) – rest of the post is for buyers interested….

I do have a few recommendations for people looking for a detector, Spend a lot of money. Seriously – i had a cheap one ($100) and even though it was old and used. It didn't detect 1/2 as much as the $$ one’s. the valentine one and the 8500 are the top of the line. Go for it and dont look back (seriously) As for the detection methods, i have never seen anyone in WA use ‘X’ band so if it says “2x the X band detection” who cares that just means it will go off false twice as much. K/Ka are the primary for the WSP and County. I will not recommend a radar for the city. You shouldn't speed there, its not safe and your radar detector is not reliable in a city, they will pick up random crap in the air that will just make you slam on the breaks causing a even more unsafe condition in the city. Stick to speed on highway/freeway only. As for laser, no detector can be faster then laser. even if you get a blip from laser chances are you got a ticket.

I have only seen it once and i was going the speed. and it was BAM on and off like a gunshot. The only thing you can do with a laser is get in a wreck trying to slow down. Even K/Ka band, the police will just use a gun and blip you or  “shoot” the radar. you will see your detector go 100% K/Ka your hit and there is no point in slowing down till they pull you over. How do you avoid this method? Few ways, 1) and most important know your road. Drive it 3–4 times at the speed limit before you speed. Why? because every road has some possible “false readings” where you get a burp on your radar from 7–11 or something, know where they are so you can visually ignore them. 2) is to use a pace car, keep a car that is speeding about 2–300 feet in front of you, Why? When coming around corners and hills the police will sit where they can ‘pop’ you right when you come into view, it will allow them a few things, to surprise you, and to keep the radar emissions low around the bend. With a car in front of you you can use that car as a radar ‘re-broadcaster allowing you to get the early detection since that car will be hit with 100% power, then (this is why you buy the expensive stuff) your good detector can pick up the small blip of K/Ka then you know to slow pass the trap and continue on your way. Try your best to learn to not slam the breaks, its bad for your car, other drivers and the police behind you, that know you have a detector and will pull you over just for the hell of it. Remember if you speed you can always get caught.

first off – watch the banned commercial for the superbowl and laugh your ass off

i dont know that i would have this (blog) if it want for all this time to kill. I found a site called http://blo.gs (clever) its a blog tracker for new posts. Its a cool way to read blogs.

i have continued looking at search.msn.com msn; calculator functions are fun but pale in googles.i really like the encyclopedia linking that msn has but google just wins, i wish google had that feature. (yes i am a nerd)

i just read something about good old kazza “Secret Kazaa Documents Revealed in Court” ”…all sorts of other admissions-that-you'd-be-crazy-to-put-on-paper like how Kazaa employees "hate" installing the Kazaa Media Desktop on their machines because all the bundled adware slows your machine down and can hijack your web browser” – haha who would put this shit in a document? just shows you … if your gonna get some sucker to venture capital your illegal company dont write things down.

    today wasn't a total waste

    • got a call from a lady in NY who was pissed off that help desk wouldn't pick up the phone, she told me that someone was hacking her computer and i had to turn it off. I was like ok i dont have access to do that you need to call NY help desk. She was like no i dont you need to deal with this. I asked for her cell and she hung up.
    • i got to load a bunch of tapes. (yeah…booo)
    • i got to wake up jonA

some plane just had a crazy crash – i saw this happen in real life once, its unreal – some day i will dothis

oh yea watch $imdb(ground hog day) today; you know you bought it other then to see bill murry in a romantic comedy

Now playing: Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams

I did my tax return today. I still claim zero so I still get a nice return and i can say “oh yea free money” i will apply this to my car. I want to pay it off in the next 6 months so that i can think about buying a new one. If i dont waste money i will consider a 2006 focus. otherwise its the car i have always wanted the bmw330 (well my first bmw 2nd would be the 530/45 then the M3/5) but the 06 focus looks badass for the price. so if you know anyone who wants a 03 focus with a nice stereo that i will proly leave in with somewhere around 75k miles (at time of sale estimate) let me know. I figure no wrecks till then its worth 8–9k private party.

so anyway back to tax. I used HR-Block to to do my tax and e-file. if you read this and use HRBlock let me know i have some code that will get you 10$ off the product or something like that.

right now i am tired i just woke up and couldn't get back to sleep for about a hour. so i figured i can sleep later this evening. I am on a kick to buy new domains. I am trying to get keeton.com but some dumb sirname email hosting company owns it and about 10 thousand others. looks like it might be hard to obtain. i did update dns with blog.kellykeeton.com and photos.kellykeeton.com for faster access.

i also thought a little about my super troopers sites and what to do with them. I noticed that someone registered carramrod.com (dead link) but there is others in the world that are prolly pissed i havent put something up yet.

i have not had 1 new work email since 10am i think today will be super slow.

my brother just got home from work – he works for ford. he was out driving a car as a test drive for repairing it and got pulled over for putting exhaust all over the road. he had some POS truck that had exhaust problems got pulled over the cop walked up said oh from the dealerships then walked away. haha

i got my pirate radio up to 1/2 a mile today. came in real clear. after that it will get real scratchy. need to figure this out. if i cant get 1 mile from 4w this is upsetting. might have to go to a directional. my swr is down from 1:2 to 1:1.3 however so that took care of the stress on the amp. i went to radio shack to buy some parts, when i signed the credit slip with a smileface the guy got all huffy with me about credit fraud. he preceded to write down the address on my drivers license. which … was still my Redmond address. fraud that.

the MSN Search went public today (from its beta). With a nice little letter from bill, his picture makes him look better then when he was here at corbis a while ago. He looked tired he looks fat and happy in that picture. MSn’s gimmick is that you can ask a question of “the web” like you would have asked jeves or ask.com. The big push it looks like is that they linked it to encarta – so lets say you ask “what is the population of USA” it will answer just like google if you ask 4+4= however MSN isn't that advanced yet. But it will work for anything that would be in the encarta ie (who is George bush, or how much fat in gatoraid) its too bad they cant team up and make one end all search engine. since you still get MSN spam on the site. I will give them credit for the low ad’s on the search page allowing fast quick searching. so i added my site to the crawler and gave it a approval – specially for people using school research. cool Microsoft lets see what you can do with it.

I also added a bunch of links all over to my site. to up the new msn/google index search method. i opened accounts at all the public bloggers and linked here as well as to a few other pages i own to keep the links high for kelly.

Edit: gotta love trackback, jsut got a email from the author of the flashbang application (see post) updating the following about msn search it looks like msn is in it to win it for sure.

thought I'd mention that the MSN Search does to math similarly to Google. Try 4+4 without the =.Also try stuff like 72 f in c.”

as i get bored at 5am i commonly just google things that i see around the office to see what i can find that is weird. i also try and continue a game that a former co-worker gave me where you find two words that individually will bring back over 100 results on google but combined will result in no found items. Normally i cheat and use a part number or something.

anyway, with this new blog area that i have joined into i have started random blog crawling where i just link from blog to blog. Sort of the idea from friendster  – one link i found was this funny one about experimenting with the USPS  another was this handy application. Its funny how many developers blogs you can find, and funny how many of them are moving or living in Redmond. I am getting out of Redmond and all the people coming back in.

so i get this all the time, kelly where can i steal music and be safe? The answer is nowhere - computers log things and if your stealing then you get logged. FOr at least a while this is the new 'hot location' to download things. Since any other p2p network is bloody with RIAA/MPAA bad seeds. This one should "fix all that" who knows i bet it lasts a year tops. But for the people that cant BitTorrent and the others that dont know how to IRC There is a new mac daddy in town. eXeem, from the suprnova bittorrent folks. It will allow you to steal everything you want. On initial tests its also Screaming fast. I mean screaming. I was able to get the hal2 two and new Gwen cd in a matter of 10 minutes. Crazy. Long live eXeem and lets hope the RIAA/MPAA ignore it for a while so that i can update my collection. I love how this software claims to “increase the networking of p2p devices” who uses the p2p networks for legal things, seriously i wonder.
